Winter Book Club Discussion

Co-sponsored by the Stanford Faculty Staff Help Center

You are invited to join us for a virtual book club to discuss thoughts raised by the book: Everything Here is Beautiful, by Stanford alumna Mira T. Lee.

Lee’s book, which is a book club audience suggestion, is a compelling read, with stories that encourage us to reflect and relate. The book, on the surface, tells a story of two sisters, from childhood bonds to adult-stage breaks. The sibling story raises issues of familial love, loyalty, and birth-order rivalry, as well as strains of dependence and self-determination. The personal narratives are made larger, set in a context of mental illness and therapeutic intervention, and the challenge of setting boundaries for self-care and survival. Through the sisters’ story, we are invited to relate to what challenges we face to make a basic commitment to live our own life.

Please read the book on your own in advance and join us online for discussion facilitated by the Stanford Faculty Staff Help Center.
