people supporting each other arm in arm

Join our community of Champions

We are committed to strengthening Stanford’s culture of care, but we need you in our corner. As a Champion, you’ll advocate for healthy behavior and self-care within your department or workgroup and make a positive impact on your colleagues’ well-being.

To become a Champion, complete a brief sign-up form in Qualtrics. Within two weeks, you’ll be added to the Champions Slack channel and receive Champions emails to keep you updated.

To earn incentive points, go to the Champions page on the BeWell platform and complete the attestation form. Once your attestation form has been successfully submitted, the Rewards page in the platform will be updated to reflect your participation and you will earn BeWell incentive points.

Please note, current Champions should complete the sign-up form and attestation form each year to earn incentive points.

What is a BeWell Champion?

BeWell Champions are University employees who value wellness and want to support a culture of care in their workgroup. There are no set ways that you have to accomplish this goal. We recognize that the amount of time and energy that can be spent on the Champion role will differ across Champions and across different times of the year.

What is the basic level of commitment?

All Champions will be added to our email listserv and receive two wellness emails a month. These emails contain information about Champion-specific perks, as well as wellness resources available to all University employees. While there are no “must have” actions as a Champion, we do hope that Champions would promote these university-wide opportunities to interested colleagues. Each wellness email has a link to the month’s wellness tips. We ask that you forward those wellness tips to those colleagues who have expressed interest in learning more about wellness.

How can I feel more connected to the community of Champions?

Champions are also routinely added to our slack channel (although not all employees are active on slack). Champions are invited to participate as much as they would like. The slack channel is where you’ll find timely notices of Champion-specific and University-wide wellness resources. You will also be able to share your own posts about wellness and engage in our daily gratitude practice. The Champion slack channel allows you to feel more connected to a community of supportive colleagues who similarly value a work environment where all employees feel appreciated and that they belong.

How can I take additional steps to promote a culture of care?

  • Attend Champion-specific trainings (or better yet, present in a training!)
  • Participate in a Champion focus group to help design our Champion program
  • Apply for a wellness grant
  • Bring a Healthy Living for Teams class to your workgroup
  • Consult the Champion-generated list of wellness activities and try one
  • Work with your colleagues to come up with your own wellness activities to try. Add your idea to the list of activities.
  • Consult our Google Drive folder of Champion resources
  • Read and share our Monthly Wellness Tips
  • Encourage colleagues to also become Champions
