SESSION DESCRIPTION
This session will discuss origins of pediatric surgery in the US and some examples of achievements that have led to where we are currently with speculation as to where the field is going in the future.

EDUCATION GOALS

  • To learn about some of the origins of pediatric surgery in the US.
  • Understand some examples of difficult, unique pediatric surgical challenges and how the solutions have evolved.
  • Explore how future technology and innovation may lead to simplification, minimization or even elimination of the need for certain surgical interventions.
