Apples are among the quintessential flavors of fall! Join us for this hands-on workshop exploring ways to capture, enhance, and preserve the harvest. We’ll do a mini-tasting to hone our abilities to assess what types of apples are suited to various applications, then we’ll learn key concepts, techniques, and recipes for preserving apples, and together we’ll make a big batch of apple pie filling so everyone can take home a jar.

This session is part of a fun and informative in-person Autumn in the Garden class series happening this fall. We will meet at the O’Donohue Stanford Educational Farm on Stanford main campus to explore strategies for preserving the bounties of the harvest. Each of the three classes is offered independently, so you can sign up for just the topics that pique your interest and fit into your busy schedule. Join for one or for all!

Instructor: Anna Lee is a lecturer in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. She is a Master Composter and a Master Food Preserver for San Mateo County and holds an advanced certificate in ecological horticulture from the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at UC Santa Cruz and an MS in agroecology from University of Wisconsin, Madison.
