Winter Book Club Discussion – Transcendent Kingdom, by Yaa Gyasi
Co-sponsored by the Stanford Faculty Staff Help Center
You are invited to join us for a virtual winter book club to discuss thoughts raised by the book: Transcendent Kingdom, by Yaa Gyasi.
Gyasi’s novel is a compelling read, with characters on emotional journeys that engage us to reflect and relate. Set in a Stanford neuroscience lab, Gyasi’s protagonist transports us on her path from a sweeping transnational origin to the university community that is dedicated to transformative discovery. Along the way, the story of intellectual promise and family pain encourages us to connect with struggles with mental health, longing for home, and sources of solace and growth.
Please read the book on your own in advance and join us online for discussion facilitated by the Stanford Faculty Staff Help Center.
This class will not be recorded. Attendance at the live session is required to receive incentive points.
