Self-Defense – Develop Understanding and Skills to Empower Yourself
With reports of violence in the news, many people may be feeling more vulnerable and insecure in their daily lives. By learning self-defense, you can discover how to avoid potentially dangerous situations, de-escalate those that do arise, and deploy techniques to physically protect yourself if necessary.
In this webinar, we will explore the scope of self-defense, legal and ethical considerations, violence dynamics, threat assessment and introduce some physical skills to help you stay safe. Join us to help build the skills and confidence you need to protect yourself and your loved ones.
This class will be recorded and a temporary link to the recording will be shared with all registered participants, which will be active for one week. Stanford University benefits-eligible employees must attend the live session in order to receive BeWell incentive points.
Instructor: Jon Keeling started teaching self-defense in 1989 and teaches self-defense courses at Stanford University. He has taught thousands of people, including overseas. He has taken many advanced courses to further his knowledge, including “Violence Dynamics” and Rory Miller’s “Instructor Development Course.” His workshops focus on understanding the breadth of self-defense, building confidence and concepts-based training.
