A Better BeWell to Kickstart Your Wellness Journey in 2023
On January 17, BeWell introduces a new user experience featuring more ways to personalize your path to well-being, including a state-of-the-art mobile app to help you focus on your wellness – and earn incentives – no matter where you work or play.
Together with the new enhancements, BeWell will continue to provide the same great features as before, including one-on-one wellness support, Lifestyle Coaching, hundreds of remote wellness activities, and privacy and security features. As before, you can earn up to $560 for participating.
Continuity and change – driven by your feedback
You’ve told us that you appreciate Stanford’s culture of care and that you feel supported to focus on your wellness. But we can always do better! The BeWell team has taken into account the top concerns you recently shared in the Open Enrollment survey and throughout the year, and we’ve used your suggestions to improve your experience going forward. Here are a few of the features you can look forward to in 2023.
Earn points anywhere, anytime with mobile app and device integration
The mobile app will make it simpler for you to earn the same incentives, regardless of your work arrangement – primarily onsite, remote, or hybrid, and wherever you engage in wellness activities – in-person fitness classes at Stanford, workouts at your local gym, or on the yoga mat on your living room floor.
Sync your favorite device with your BeWell account and get credit for the physical activity you engage in each day. You’ll get points the first time you connect your device. You’ll even earn points when your synced device tracks your sleep.
If you’re not able to integrate your device with BeWell, you can manually enter your workouts and sleep to receive points. Either way, you’ll get credit for all your personal healthy activities as well as encouragement to instill healthy habits.
A streamlined user experience with robust support
We’ve also taken your suggestions to make the BeWell platform easier and more intuitive to use. To help you navigate the new platform features, you’ll find user-friendly guides on the BeWell website by our scheduled launch date of January 17. Or, join us on January 23 for “What’s New with BeWell 2023,” a free Healthy Living webinar covering the new features.
Refreshed look
You’ll notice some changes to the user interface this year too. These reflect the new platform’s underpinnings in the state-of-the-art Virgin Pulse health and well-being platform, which supports over 100 million users worldwide.
The Health Assessment is now a wellness activity
In 2023, the Health Assessment is no longer required, but still a great place to start. While it’s now optional, completing the Health Assessment will give you valuable insight into factors that affect your overall well-being. The Assessment report will help you identify aspects of wellness to focus on and suggest concrete actions you can take to improve your well-being. Since the Assessment will now be considered a wellness activity, you’ll also earn incentive points just for taking it.
You’re unique, and so is your path to well-being
In the BeWell platform, you’ll set up a custom profile that reflects your specific wellness needs and interests. Each day you’ll receive suggested daily activities related to your goals. The free daily activities will help you progress on your wellness journey while you earn points toward your incentive.
The BeWell platform is also now available in 21 languages, so you can navigate through it in the language you prefer. You can get platform support in over 300 languages to make troubleshooting any concerns easier.
A sharper point system
The number of points you earn toward incentive rewards will look a little different in the new platform, but don’t let that throw you. Try to think of it as a new currency, like euros vs. yen. The new points system will help you track and manage the everyday activities in your wellness portfolio more easily. The points system, together with device integration, the mobile app, and do-anywhere wellness opportunities updated daily, will have you racking up points toward your incentive quickly.
The maximum incentive payout of $560 will be the same this year, and incentives will still be paid in the same way as before. When you reach $140 incentive increments, you’ll see the payout on your paycheck within two pay periods of reaching incremental goals. (Please note that cash incentives are taxed as regular income.)
New this year, earn points for watching recorded Healthy Living webinars
Choose the subjects that matter most to you – topics like healthy snacking, self-compassion, mindfulness, stress management, neurodiversity, financial management, and more. Live STAP-eligible and free Healthy Living classes are still available to earn BeWell points too.
Continuing participants will also appreciate new improvements to the Healthy Living registration process.
Take a “wholistic” view on your well-being in 2023
At Stanford, you matter as much as the work you do. Wellness programs are an important part of your total benefits and employee services package. Together with your insurance plans, recreation and fitness facilities, and work-life integration policies, they form a framework to strengthen your health and well-being. We hope you will bear in mind all the resources available to you as we embark on a new year.
